The STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming is the perfect step to begin your exciting career as a swimming teacher and with no previous experience required, you can get started right away. The five day course comprises of theory and practical based learning. Our tutors not only have the theory based experience, they have the day to day experience with some still teaching within a swim school environment. You will not only leave as a qualified swim teacher but with lots of tips and tricks to support your journey.

  • Recognised internationally, allowing you to take your swimming teaching career around the world.

  • Develops the vocational skills and technical knowledge of a qualified swimming teacher, allowing you to independently teach your very own class of 12 participants from non-swimmers up to improvers (children and adults).

Qualification course information 

We have two Level 2 Award in Swim Teaching courses available which will take place at Newton Abbot Leisure on the following days and times:

  • 27th, 28th, 31st January and 1st and 2nd February 2022.
  • 9 am - 5 pm.
  • Training Room.

Learners must have all pre-requisites in place before the start of the course. Qualification certificates cannot be issued if all pre-requisites are not met before the start of the course, post course submissions will not be accepted.

What to bring with you

We want to make sure you have everything you need to complete your qualification as smoothly as possible. We recommend you bring the following with you:

  • Stationary, such as pens and a notepad. 
  • Swimming costume for the practical elements. 
  • Change of clothes. 
  • Food, snacks and water. We have water stations and vending machines on site for you to use. 
  • Changing facilities, including toilets and showers are available for you to use.

When you get your qualification

  • You will be able to gain employment as a swimming teacher, teaching non-swimmers to improver participants.
  • Access free online support and resources from the STA which are helpful for new and experienced teachers.
  • Your course resource manual will act as a guide throughout your swimming teaching journey—always there to refer back to should you ever need it.
  • Receive advice and guidance from the STA team who will support you throughout your swimming teaching journey.
