Body Pump

Les Mills Bodypump is the original barbell class and the ideal workout for anyone looking to get lean, toned and fit – fast. Using light to moderate weights with lots of repetition, Bodypump gives you a total body workout. It will burn up to 400 calories. Instructors will coach you through the scientifically-backed moves and techniques pumping out encouragement, motivation and great music – helping you achieve much more than on your own! You’ll leave the class feeling challenged and motivated, ready to come back for more.

 

HIIT

If you’ve never tried high-intensity interval training (HIIT) exercise classes, it’s worth considering. Why? In short, HIIT, which involves bursts of high-intensity cardio and strength exercises with brief periods of recovery, is a great way to get a big workout with multiple benefits in a small amount of time.

 

Body Combat

This high-energy martial-arts inspired workout is non-contact and there are no complex moves to master. Our highly-trained expert instructors will challenge you to up the intensity and motivate you to make the most of every round. You'll release stress, have a blast and feel like a champ - You'll punch and kick your way to better physical and mental wellbeing. Not only is it an excellent whole-body workout for cardio fitness, but it's also superb for burning fat, releasing stress and improving your coordination.

 

Army PT

Our Army PT class, currently running at Newton Abbot Leisure Centre, will provide you with an all-round body workout – but the best thing of all is that the class will be fun! We strongly believe it’s the most social exercise you will do.

No matter your fitness level, Army PT is designed to help you in an authentic and supportive manner. It’s so social that you will find encouragement throughout from both the instructor and its members - We are dedicated to supporting you.

Our Army PT instructor will provide variety each time you attend. The great thing is that you won’t get bored and before you even realise it, the session has finished – leaving you feeling energised having experienced a full body workout. As a bonus you will make new friends and experience social exercise at its best.

 

Complete Core

If the word "core" conjures an image of a sculpted waistline with six-pack abs, that's only part of the picture. If you're like most people, you probably focus primarily (or only) on your abdominals when working your core. But having this narrow view can be detrimental to the rest of your core, making you weaker rather than stronger and leaving you vulnerable to injury. Switching to a total core workout that targets not just the abdominals but also your spinal stabilizers, obliques and hips can remedy that - this is where complete core comes in. The class is designed to build core muscle groups while improving posture by performing various exercises that strengthen the abdomen and back muscles and increase flexibility. The instructor may include a variety of equipment in this great workout.

 

Ab Attack

Ab Attack focuses on toning and defining the abs and strengthening the back to improve posture and core strength. The class is a mix of weighted and body-weighted ab training. You’ll do crunches, sit-ups, planks, mountain climbers and much more. Core exercises should be a part of your exercise routine. Aside from being a good workout for your abdominal muscles, they also benefit your physical health more than you can imagine. They improve flexibility, strengthen abs and the entire body, reduce lower back problems, and promote breathing and lung capacity.

 

Kettlebells

Kettlebell workouts can help you build muscle and improve your strength, core stability, balance, flexibility, and coordination. It's a versatile piece of equipment, which means you can perform a range of exercises that simultaneously target single or multiple groups. The class will challenge every muscle in your body with exercises that are different from your regular routine. Kettlebell training can breathe new life into your fitness programme, incorporating strength, endurance, power and fun.

 

Suspension Training

Suspension Training is a functional strength workout using a TRX. Our Suspension Training classes include a full range of exercises that will help you improve your strength, flexibility, posture and balance. You work at your level.

Anyone can benefit from this form of suspension training. This is because you can control the level of resistance/difficulty by simply shifting the position of your body. Whether you are undertaking rehabilitation after being injured, hardcore athletic training for a marathon or gentle weekly exercises to keep fit, suspension training is a fantastic workout.

 

Circuits

New to circuits? No problem, no matter your fitness level, you are welcome to join in - bring a friend to support each other. Our instructor-led circuits classes will get your heart pumping, body moving, resulting in a total body workout that you'll love and want to come back for more. You'll start with a warm-up before moving through the circuit. Circuits classes will vary each week to keep you motivated and challenge the body and mind - Expect a mix of exercises targeting the whole body.

 

Workout with Bands

Sometimes it’s easy to forget just how simple it can be to get a little fitter. You don’t need technological marvels strapped to every part of your body or racks straining under heavy weights on hand. You just need to push your body a little bit further than it’s used to. One excellent way to do that is to pull a stretchy bit of elastic in several directions.

 

Boxercise

Boxercise is an exercise concept based on the training methods used by boxers. Sessions typically involve hitting focus pads but no class involves hitting an opponent. It is a fun, challenging, and safe workout that is great for stress-busting and accessible to all ages and fitness levels. All equipment provided! 

 

Barbell Strength

Full body workout with a barbell will improve your overall muscular strength, endurance and muscle tone. Some sessions will be aimed at strength work and some will be aimed at endurance work, so you will be hitting the muscles in different ways to keep them guessing. Every workout will be different, so it will keep you fresh and prevent boredom in your training which will help you get to your goals quicker.

 

Metafit

Metafit is short but effective, the half hour session is enough to reach an anaerobic zone, train your heart, and burn some serious energy. Supports weight loss, as high intensity exercise includes intervals of cardio and strength work, maximises calorie burn whilst training your muscles simultaneously, thus increasing the metabolism in the long term, this is an excellent way to build fitness fast, developing your stamina and endurance will improve your energy levels.

Cancellation policy

  • Notice of cancellation must be given at least 2 hours before the booking; otherwise, a fee will be retained for pay as you go users and applied to members' accounts at the standard price of the activity.
  • All leisure users who fail to attend and/or cancel within 2 hours on three occasions within a 30 day period will lose their booking privileges for a month.
