Children's Swim Lessons

Welcome to Swim School.

Swimming Lessons at Teignbridge Leisure are available at both Newton Abbot Leisure Centre and Dawlish Leisure Centre. We cater for anyone learning to swim, from babies (and their parents) to children and adults. Our swim school offers a safe and welcoming environment where swimmers can learn and grow at their own pace. We use a variety of teaching techniques to help our students develop confidence, strength and stamina in the water. Our lessons are also designed to be fun and engaging, so our swimmers look forward to coming back each week. We follow the Swim England Learn to swim programme with each of the Learn to Swim Stages 1-7 following a clear set of outcomes that need to be completed in order to gain each Award.

Both swim schools run as one; expanding your opportunities to learn this important gift for life. We operate using continuous assessments to ensure that swimmers progress through the scheme at their own pace.

If you are not on a swimming lesson and would like to start with us. Please email our Swim team on swimlessons@teignbridge.gov.uk with the following details:

• Child’s full name.
• Date of Birth.
• Address.
• Contact number.
• Email.
• Which centre: Newton Abbot Leisure Centre or Dawlish Leisure Centre.
• Preferred day and time.
• Brief description of their ability – This will be used to identify the best stage for your child.

Our team will contact you to confirm your space, if we need further information or have not been able to allocate your space on your preferred day and time - we'll do what we can to get you started.

Re-enrolment.

Re-enrolment takes place at the end of each term. Each swimmer will have to confirm, request to change or cancel their next set of swimming lessons during the specified time period. Keep informed with the latest re-enrolment dates and costs.
